Banpo Museum is located in the north of Banpo village, Xi’an. It is the first prehistorically sites museum of China, containing the remains of several well organized Neolithic settlements dating from 5600-6700BP. Except for building rooms to store and preserve cultural relic, museum also had a hall in the actual site to protect big relic and buildings. There are prehistorically shelter, fire pit, cellar and public grave inside, presenting how primitive live and hunt 6000years ago. Banpo is the type site associated with Yangshao Culture. What’s precious in exhibition is its large amount of colorful pottery with all kinds of shape; most of them are painted with mysterious pattern. Banpo museum cover 4500m2 in all and divided into cultural relic exhibition, relic hall and auxiliary display which consists of picture and text.
