Qianling is located in Qian County, Shaanxi province, China. Starting from 684 BC, it cost 23 years to complete. Qianling is very unique, for the remains of many members of the royal Li family are buried in it. This includes Emperor Gaozong of Tang (r. 649–83), as well as his wife, the Zhou Dynasty usurper and China's first (and only) governing empress Wu Zetian (r. 690–705). The most precious treasures excavated from Qainling are more than 100 gorgeous and colorful murals. Maqiutu(a polo match), Keshitu(foreign ambassadors are being received at court), Chulietu(hunting) and Lizhangtu(the royal procession) are renowned in China. These murals are not only the representatives of the paintings in the Tang Dynasty but also the valuable materials for us to study the architecture, clothes, custom, sports, life in palace and foreign affairs at that time. While the tomb was being constructed, the Tang Dynasty was experiencing the glorious period. Thus, Qianling is magnificent and splendid. The layout of the tomb looks like the structure of Chang’an (the capital of the Tang Dynasty, today’ Xi’an ). It was divided into three parts, including imperial city, city wall and outer city.
