The Dragon Gate on West Hill, located in Kunming, is also called Wofoshan ('Sleeping Buddha Hills')because it looks like a sleeping Buddha. It is set in mountains well covered by evergreen woods and filled with beautiful flowers. There are splendid Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqing Monastery and the Dragon Gate. It consists of 3 parts: a stone archway, a platform, a stone room and a number of sculptures, all carved out of the same rock. As a Chinese idiom says, 'Once you ascend Longmen (Dragon Gate), you would receive a sudden boost in your prestige'. If you are lucky to participate in the traditional event (March, 3rd every year according to the lunar calendar), you can watch the performance such as unique songs, traditional instruments and dances.
