Three Pagodas are located in north Dali, and is about 1.5 kilometers apart. Three pogodas are against Cangshan Mountain, faced with Erhai Sea, just in front of Chongsheng Temple.Three Pogodas belong to the series of Buddhism temple which were built during the period of Nanzhao Kingdom and Dali Kingdom.
Among Three Pogodas, the 12-storey Qianxun Pogoda is the main tower with a bottom width of 9.9 meters and a height of 69.13 meters. It is of typical Tang Dynasty style like the Wilde Goose Pogoda and the Small Wild Goose Pogoda in Xi'an. What is more, Qianxun Pogoda is also one of the highest towers in China. As for the other two pogodas, they are in west main tower, share the same distance of 70 meters to the main tower. The north and south pagoda was built by Dali Kingdom, and they are 97.5 meters apart.
Three Pogodas are the representative of the ancient history and culture of Yunnan province. In March 1961, it was listed into the first batch of Key Cultural Relics under the state-level protection.
