The Qiao Family Courtyard is located at Qi County, Shanxi Province, where is a part of the beautiful and richly endowed Jinzhong basin. It was initially built as the residence of the richest banker Qiaozhiyong at that time in 1711, and greatly admired as an artistic treasure. Recently 50 years, more than 50 films, TV plays selected spot and took pictures here. The film “Raise the Red Lantern" which was directed by Mr Zhang Yimou was one of them. Qiao Family’s compound consists of 6 large yards and 20 small yards with 313 houses in total, seen from outside, the residency is grand with a long yards. When seen from inside, it is splendid decorated with exquisite craftsmanship, reflecting the great style of big families in feudal society in the northern part of China.
