Built in Nansong dynasty, the Rainbow Bridge is now the eldest covered bridge in China. Every corner of this 140-metre long bridge is scientifically designed and well reserved, today, it is still among the most beautiful bridges of all bridges. Various mountains stand on both sides of the bridge for over 800 years with pure water flows under it. For the consideration of maintainence, the pavilions and corridors are all separate from the whole structure. The most equisite part of the bridge is the pier of the bridge, which reflects the artistic style of primitive simplicity. During the construction of the bridge, a lot of men of letters had given names of this bridge but no one satisfied the villagers in Qinghua Village. On the afternoon the bridge was about to built, the last bricks were about to put in place, a rainbow appears at the back of the West Mountain, all the people saw it thought that was the symbol of happiness and beauty, that's where the name of the bridge came from.
