Jingdezhen is situated on the eastern bank of the Yangtze River, its reputation as the "porcelain city" dates back as far as the Song dynasty. The city’s famous exhibition of ceramic history is located in the Maple mountain of Jingdezhen's Western suburban area. It was first opened on the 1st October of 1984, and attracts visitors annually from around the world. The museum offers a variety of ancient kiln pieces, ceramic workshops and antique ceramic processing buildings. The ceramic exhibition covers an area of 830,000 square meters which includes the museum and scenic parks filled with beautiful willow tress of various shapes, sizes and colors. The shady trees fill the atmosphere with sweet smelling perfume and Joyful colours, as the combination of humanistic influence and natural beauty combine to make every visit an evocative and memorable experience. The stunning combination of antique architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasty effectively splits the museum in the middle. Both segments of the museum have attached traditional designed gardens and period structures; the Ming garden is enhanced by the ‘Wangbo Residence’ which is a typical Hui style building.
