The Fresco in Baisha Village
Baisha Village was once been the political and economic center of Lijiang, Yunnan. 55 frescos were housed in Baisha now; they are precious cultural heritage of Baisha Culture. Baisha frescos were famous for their integration of sophistication from Han Paintings and Brutalism from Zang Nation style paintings. They were mostly completed at Ming and Qing dynasty. Religion is always the theme that reflected in the paintings. At the same time normal life is also presented vividly in the paintings, like hunting, fishing and chopping wood. The last feature of Baisha Fresco is the multi-nation content. Characters on the paintings are sometime lama, sometimes Dongba, which is the local religion and sometimes Buddhist.
