St Sofia Orthodox Church is located in Daoli District, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Initially built in 1932, it is the largest Orthodox Church of original Far East area. St Sofia is a typical Byzantine building. The main structure is laid out in the shape of a cross with the main hall topped with a huge green tipped dome. As it was initially built for Russian who was living in Far East, It looks like the church building at the Red Square in Moscow. It is beautiful to look at, and the interior is beautifully designed and decorated. It is one of Harbin’s most magnificent buildings.
It has become an important city highlight in Harbin. The exotic style add Harbin as a tourists attraction, as well as value in exploring history when Russia invading the Northeast of China.
