The splendid Qingdao Guest House is a well-known attraction one should not miss. It was built in 1905 according to the characteristic of German-style and Euro royal architects. A glimpse of the building itself can bring the visitors back to the German-occupation era of 100 years ago. The Qingdao Guest House was the former residence of the local German Governor General, the highest military and administrative leader of colonial Qingdao. The Guest House, with its delicate shape, bold colors, splendid ornaments and graceful lines, boasts the outstanding masterpiece of European architecture in the city. Covering more than 4,000 square meters, the majestic mansion is 30-meter high with an exterior wall as thick as 60 centimeters. The exterior wall is made of simply processed stones and decorated by granite while the front-door wall is decorated by light green and gray granite. The interior of the house is designed and decorated in an elegant and stately way in which tourists can enjoy the rich atmosphere of the European court. The house is 4-story building consisting of one basement and another 3 floors. On the second floor lie the hallway, central hall, study, drawing room, reception room, dining room and greenhouse. The whole floor is full of western romantic and atmosphere. The third floor is where the governor lives. A lot of furniture on the third is kept with its original look.
