Badaguan (“Ba” means “eight” in English) gained its name from the eight roads, which named after the eight passes of the Great Wall. These roads, arranged in a crisscross pattern, form a scenic area of several square meters. Although the roads increased to ten after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, the name “Badaguan” remains constant. Known as the World Exposition of Buildings, Badaguan was a villa area for bureaucrat capitalists before liberation, which was characteristic of buildings of various styles. Red-roofs in the embrace of verdant trees, scenic seaside under the blue sky, with beautiful buildings make Badaguan a famous health resort. What’s more, Badaguan is a world of trees and flowers. Flowering peaches, which blossom in spring, cover the whole Road of Shaoguan. Crape myrtles in Road of Zhengyangguan are a scenery pleasant to see in summer. When in autumn, Acer monoes enhance the beauty of Road of Juyonngguan. Cedars along the two sides of Road of Zijingguan remain green all the year round. Road of Shanhaiguan is featured by chinars. Last but not least, Road of Ningwuguan, named as “Street of Flowers”, is a heaven for Begonias, blooming from the early spring to the late autumn.

The Badaguan Convalescene Area is one of the most famous attractions in Qingdao. There are many fancy villas dotted in the area. But all the villas are not open to public except for the Huashi Villa. You can only enjoy the gorgeos exteriors of them. As for the Huashi Villa, please remember that you can only take photos outside but are not allowed to do that inside.

By plane: The Qingdao International Airport is located in the northern part of Qingdao, 23 kilometers away from the downtown. The buses in the airport, such as bus 302, 305 can take you to the downtown directly. If you have any questions about the airport and the buses, please call 0532-96576.

By coach: You can take a couch to Qingdao from many cities in and around the Shandong Province, such as Zibo and Weihai. There are several coach stations in Qingdao.

If you want to go to the First Coach Station, take bus 5 and bus 215, and for the Second Coach Station, bus 26, 304, 316, 501, 801, for the Third Coach Station, bus 8. Transportation within Qingdao: If you want to visit the Badaguan Convalescene Area, you can take bus 26, 304, and 31, and get off at the Wushengguanlu Station.
