Dunhuang Weather
Dunhuang is an oasis state situated on the desert with an elevation of no more than 1200 meters. It has an extreme arid climate with distinct seasons which averages 40mm rainfall over the year. The freezing weather arrives in January accompanying strong wind blowing while the nicer conditions tourists prefer falls on June. The temperatures between daytime and night can differ significantly making you wear a tank at noon and a down jacket in the evening. The four seasons share the same situation with day temperature. As exclusive climate, it features the landscape over here conquers visitors with a boundless stretch of golden sand up to the sky adorned by the viridity of the oasis.
Best time to go:
May to October when the weather is pleasantly warm. You could have an amazing trip to Jiayuguan exploring the majesty of the western beginning of the Great Wall and the mystery of the Dunhuang frescos. Or just by standing at the top of a sand dune for an overlook, the endless blue sky adjoining with the desert which gives a splendid sight for you to see the power of the nature.
