Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is the biggest, busiest airport in Zhejiang Province for its important location, large scale, state-of-the-art facilities, and excellent services. Classified as a national trunk line airport and Grade-A international airport by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the airport serves the rapid growth of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone by satisfying domestic air transport needs and providing services to international airlines.
The annual capacity of the airport increases from 2.98 million passengers and 73,000 tons of cargo in 2001 to 12.673 million and 210,000 tons in 2008; the number of departures and arrivals grows from 36,400 in 2001 to 119,000 in 2008. Currently the airport is ranked 8th out of all 152 Chinese civil aviation airports and has joined other seven domestic counterparts with passenger capacity of more than 10 million since 2007. The airport hosts 38 airlines with over 2,400 departures and arrivals each week and serves a network of 160 domestic and international routes connected to 58 cities and regions.
