Xiamen First-half tourism revenue hits CNY17 billion
Xiamen, a coastal city in southeast China's Fujian province, saw its tourism revenue increase 16.6% year on year to CNY17 billion in the first half of 2010.
In the period from January to June 2010, the number of tourist arrivals from home and abroad hit 13.8 million, up 19.8% from a year earlier.
The city's booming tourism industry has contributed to its economic development. In the first six months, the total investment in tourism was USD75 million.
Xiamen has been striving to improve its tourism service facilities. The first tourism service center outside Xiamen Island, Tong'an Tourism Consultant and Service Center, started operations in September 2009.
Currently, the city has five tourism service centers, 20 tourism guide boards, 34 tourism transportation signboards, 93 media touch screens for tourism information, 110 tourism information stands, and 114 Xiamen tourism call centers.
