Normally we are not tour people. The thought of milling around with 50 - 100 people all wearing the same colored hats is not appealing to us. We were wondering the best way to travel in China. And this time we loved the itinerary. It was a small intimate group (6 of us).During our stay in China our guide Julia , from China Travel Depot, helped us a lot , We started our tour from the Tian'anmen Square, and had a Rickshaw riding in the ancient alley way to feel the atmosphere of history and culture, then We went for an adventure on the Great Wall. We took the hike up to the cable car or tram and then enjoyed the GREAT WALL for several hours. it is worth every RMB or USD that you spend on it and more.
Then we went to Shanxi by a “D” train, the service on the train is excellent, in Shanxi, we visited Taiyuan and Pingyao, during our journey, we firstly visited the Hanging Temple. Since it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 meters above the ground, it is called Hanging Temple. How could a building like this withstand the winds and storms of so many years? Hanging Temple is really an architectural wonder, then we drive to Pingyao and visit Qiao Family's Compound on the way. When we first saw the compound, we were astonished to find that the complex was so large and magnificent.
Xian is a beautiful city, and the sites we saw were great, we visited the Terra-Cotta Warrior Corps, and we think the whole project is so great. Of course, learning about China's history was the best part of the trip.
On the 9th day, we arrived in Guilin, and we were really fascinated to its beautiful landscape, also Cruise along the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo is an unforgettable experience. As you take in the stunning scenery there's something interesting to see at almost every bend in the river.
Our last destination is shanghai, where we flied back to Australia, here we walked along the Bund, the classic image of Shanghai and the city's main attraction. Sweeping along the western side of the Huangpu river, the majestic buildings date back to Shanghai's grandest days. It’s really terrific!
Whatever, I highly recommend this tour. I'm looking forward to going on more tours with China Travel Depot.
