Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, the most prosperous international metropolis in China,from May 1–October 31, 2010. It is a good opportunity for China to show its achievements in the fields of social construction, science and technology, economy and culture. The Expo also provides exhibitors all over the world with a large-scale platform from which to communicate their successful experiences and accomplishments. Now, Shanghai has enough confidence to hold a grand exhibition in 2010 which will be attended by more than 200 countries and international organizations and 70 million tourists.

Theme
The theme of the 2010 World Expo is “Better City, Better Life”. The theme represents the wish of the whole world for better standards of living in future urban environments. There is a deep concern for the improvement of urban environments lying behind this theme. The number of city inhabitants has risen constantly since 1800, and by 2010, as estimated by the United Nations, urban dwellers will account for 55% of the world population.

Mascot: Haibao
The cute Haibao, the mascot of Expo 2010 Shanghai China, was inspired from the Chinese character '人' – people. It not only well embodies the essence of Chinese people oriented culture but also expresses the designing concept of the emblem of 2010 World Expo again.
