Longmen Grottoes is a symbol of Luoyang except for Peony. It is 12km from Luoyang city. It is one of the four major grottoes in China. The other three are Datong Yungang Grottoes, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and Tianshuimaijishan Grottoes. It is listed as the first national scenic spot as anthology of Buddhist art. Longmen Grottoes also reflect policy, economy and culture. It remains lots of materials of religion, art, architecture, handwriting, music, fashion and medical. Therefore, it is a large museum of stone carving art. It is suitable for visiting here all the year round especially in April when celebrating peony festival. The government in Luoyang city holds a lot of activities and at that time tourists also can experience the culture.
