Chongqing Zoo, located in the western part of Chongqing, was built in 1955. It covers an area of 45 hectares, ranking as one of the biggest zoos in China. Visitors can get close to nature in this beautiful and green park. The zoo owns more than 230 kinds of rare wild ones, including giant pandas, golden monkeys, cassowaries and Takins.   After 1972, Chongqing Zoo strengthened the international communication. It keeps long-term relationship with different zoos in Japan, the US, Canada and Indonesia. There are also many leisure facilities such as the Children’s Fairground, Roller Skating Field, open stage, reading rooms, restaurants.
