Urumqi is the concentration region of the national minorities. Uyghur food, Mongolian food and Muslim food can be found every where including delicacies like Roasted Whole Lamb, pulled noodles and Xinjiang Rice. Meat is the main component of the food structure in Xinjiang. Though Xinjiang lamb kebabs are sold all over China, but the original flavor of those is tasted here. In addition, Milk tea and Braised Chicken with Potato and Green Pepper are also the famous local cuisines of Xinjiang.

 

   

 

Melons and Fruits are particularly popular among tourists all over the world. Fruits like grapes, hami melons and pomegranates along with varieties of dried fruit throughout Xinjiang all gather in Urumqi. Sichuan food, Cantonese food and western fast food can also be found in Urumqi.
 
Food Circle of People’s Cinema
The Food Circle is centered on the platform in front of the cinema. It spreads through the Minzhu Road, Wenyi Road, Hongqi Road and Jianshe Road which are separately connected to the North Xinhua Road, North Gate North Jiefang Road, Zhongshan Road and Guangming Road. In this circle, every road represents a food street.
 
Food Circle of Erdaoqiao Street
The circle takes the crossing area of Shanxi Alley Jiefang Road and Long quan Street as a center, reaching out to connect Renmin Road, South Xinhua Road, South Heping Road, and South Tuanjie Road. There are the three biggest eating places in Urumqi. Outward it stretches to the Shengli Road, Yan’an Road and East Tuanjie Road. The food circle and its extension offer ethnic food Urumqi and it’s the area where banquet halls are mostly situated.
