Jinan Transportation

 

 Known as the “City of Springs” and being the capital of Shandong province, Jinan is a world-famous tourist city with fast and convenient transport systems. Its urban public transportation has operated since 1938 and the city is now a national transportation hub.

By air

Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport, located in Yaoqiang Town which is in the northeast of Jinan City, is about 28.5 km away from the downtown.

The airport has international flights to Osaka, Seoul, Bangkok, as well as daily flights to major Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Kunming, Haikou, Nanchang, Chongqing, Chengdu, Harbin, Shenyang, etc. From this airport there are 5 lines led to the downtown in total.

From urban Jinan to the airport: 06:00 – 18:00, each bus starts every single hour. You may buy the ticket after on board. It takes 50 minutes per trip.

From the airport to urban Jinan: Bus starts any minutes, each trip takes 50 minutes. You may buy the ticket at No.3 or No.4 gate on the first floor.

From airport to Zibo (round way): There are 5-7 buses every day, and each trip takes one and half hour. The booking office is at the central counter beside No.5 and No.6 gate.

From airport to Taian (round way): There are 4 buses every day, and each trip takes one and half an hour. The booking office is at the central counter beside No.5 and No.6 gate.

From airport to Jining (round way): There are 2 buses every day, and each trip takes about three hours. The booking office is at the central counter beside No.5 and No.6 gate.

 

By train

The railways stations in Jinan has trains that run to every big cities in China. Jinan has two railway stations for passengers: the Jinan Railway Station and the Jinan East Railway Station. The former one is bigger, situated on the intersection of Jinghu Railway (connects Beijing to Shanghai) and Jiaoji Railway (runs from Jinan to Qingdao); the latter one is a satellite station where the trains Qingdao-Dandong, Qingdao-Taiyuan and Beijing-Weihai pass by, and the station has a train that runs to Luolang.

 

By bus

Jinan has two main bus stations with motor vehicles depart for every city in Shangdong province and other 37 cities in other provinces. Three expressways (Beijing-Shanghai, Jinan-Qingdao and Jinan-Liaocheng) and four national roads (104, 220, 308 and 309) go through Jinan city. There are also tourist bus lines for 1 day or 2 days’ trip covering the main attractions in Shandong Province. Jinan East Bus Station offers inter-provincial lines that run from Jinan to Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang, and Puyang. There are also bus lines that operates inside the province from Jinan to Heze, Linyi, Qufu, Tai’an, etc. The bus station sends off 2-3 buses per day for each destination: provincial lines depart in the morning, while inter-provincial lines leave in the afternoon.

Mass transportation in Jinan is very convenient. Until now there are more than 200 bus lines, and can be divided into three categories, i.e. in downtown, in outskirts and in outer suburbs. Bus lines in downtown can still be divided into different categories as follows:

Trolley bus: No.101 to No.104, they are very busy lines and serve for long hours everyday. The ticket costs 1 yuan.

Air-conditioned bus: the numbers start with a K, and the ticket cost 2 yuan.

Student bus: No. 501 and No.502. When it comes to vacation or vacation, these two lines would be out of service.

Supermarket line: No.601 is served for BHG and No. 602 is served for RT-Mart.

Toursit route: From April 2rd to Oct. 31st, this line is on service on weekends.

Commute line: No.1, buses commute from the car station to the train station.
