By air
In regards to the aviation, Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is 28 kilometers from Guilin City. It has opened more than 60 international domestic routes to cities all over the world; most major domestic airlines are routes to Guilin.
There are two main train stations in Guilin City, they are Guilin South Station (Guilin Station) and Guilin North Station. Among them, Guilin South Station is given more priority.
Trains heading to Beijing and Shenzhen are existed in Guilin South Station, while Guilin North Station has less amount of trains going through compared to South Station. There are also trains to other cities like Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha, etc. Therefore the traffic is very convenient.
Guilin South Station (Guilin Station)
This station is the main railway station in Guilin. It is in the centre of the city located on the road junction of east-west road, Shanghai Road and north-south road, Zhongshan Road. Trains from all over the country go to Guilin usually dock at Guilin South Station. The station is large in scale and can accommodate 15,000 people who are waiting to aboard. Getting off in Guilin South Station would be the best choice because it is really convenient to all attractions.
How to get to the bus terminal from the Guilin Train Station?
1. Walk out from the railway station and head north which is going left from the station and walk for 10 minutes.
2. You can also take tour bus NO.100, which is an air-conditioned bus NO. 99, 2, 3, 10, 11 and a free bus is also an option which is NO. 51 or 54 to get there.
Guilin North Station
It is in the suburbs, you can take bus NO.1 to get to the city centre. In addition, Bus NO. 99 and 100 have also been opened to connect these two train stations.
By bus
There are two kinds of buses in Guilin an ordinary bus and a free bus.
Ordinary bus
Transportation in urban area of Guilin is very convenient; you can almost reach every corner of the city by bus. However these buses are all self-service ticketing.
Free bus (8: 00 - 17: 00, with the number of 5 as the starting number)
Guilin has set a precedent of free buses in China. There are 8 free bus lines running to the urban major attractions, scenic areas and main streets, it has become a major feature of Guilin.
These 8 lines are buses NO.51, 51, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, and 58.
