Activities:
Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Potala Palace, Lhasa’s cardinal land mark and winter home to the successive Dalai Lamas’. Originally build in the 7th century & later refurbished in the 17th century by the great No. 5th Dalai Lama. The Palace embodies the best of 17th century Tibetan arts and architecture. After the Palace, drive to turquoise Yamdrok Lake and Karola glacier (5086m), en route to the charming Gyantse town.
Gyantse used to be the third largest and an important center of the wool trade in Tibet and a bustling caravan stop on the trade route from Lhasa to Nepal, India and Bhutan. Nowadays, travelers from all over the world come to see this charming small town for its laid-back atmosphere with 14th century Pelkor Chode Monastery, multi-chapel Kumbum pagoda and the fortress, from where Tibetans struggled hard in guarding the invading British expedition of 1904.
