The superb situation of this Japanese owned residence - in the heart of old Shanghai and a two minute walk from the nearest metro- make it one of the city's best hotels. Add to this the sumptuous setting amongst lush gardens and the high standards of service and quality rooms, and it is not hard to see why this rather special place is ranked amongst the "Top Hotels of the World".The spectacular reception area is housed in the former French Concession Club. This contrasts dramatically with the more modern (yet equally spectacular), main body of the hotel which towers above Huai Hai Road. The splendid guestrooms are situated here, where, Manchester United Football Club, stayed on their recent visit to the city.
