China's top tourist sites to form alliance at BITF
China's cities that are home to the country's top-ranked tourist sites plan to seal an alliance at the Boao International Tourism Forum (BITF) in Hainan later this month.
On March 5, tourism industry representatives from various cities across China, including Hangzhou, Harbin, Guilin and Dalian, gathered in Sanya to discuss an alliance of cities featuring China's top-ranked tourist sites. The possible alliance consists of 67 sites in 55 cities. If all goes as planned, the alliance will meet once every two years and have offices in Beijing and Sanya.
Hainan has two tourist sites that are on the list, which was made by the National Tourism Administration in May 2007. Those sites are the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone and the Nanshan Minor and Major Caves in Sanya.
