Airport Tips:
Passengers of domestic flight are banned from bring aboard liquids in carry-on bag. Baggage carrying liquids, including coconut, mineral water, etc, must be checked.
Railroad:
The new Railway Station is located in Lizhiggou, suburb Sanya. To get there, No.204 Bus in downtown and taxi is available.
Through train is available for passengers from Sanya to Beijing west, Shanghai south, Guangzhou, etc. Travel time from Shanghai to Sanya is 36.5 hours; from Beijing to Sanya is 35 hours; from Guangzhou to Sanya is 15 hours.
Tips: Train travels along the west coast of Hainan Island, enabling passengers to view both the mysterious primeval and the azure sea.
Driving:
A round-the-island Expressway, consisting of East Ring Expressway and West Ring Expressway, has been built, whose branches also cover the central island. , connecting all major counties including Lingshui, Wanning and Qionghai. The Expressway is free of toll, with flat road and picturesque surroundings.
Self-driving tour:
Take ferry in Huai’an, Guangdong province before arriving at Haikou; then take the East Ring Expressway or the West Ring Expressway to Sanya. The former is recommended, as its road is better, travel time shorter and there are more scenic spots along it.
Tips: On the East Ring Expressway, cars run below the minimum speed will be fined 50rmb; cars run above the speed limits will be fined 200rmb with a 3-point deduction on driving license; cars run 1.5 times higher than the speed limits will be fined 1000rmb, with a 6-point deduction or suspension of license.
Sanya Bus/Coach Station
Situated in downtown Sanya, No.16, Jiefang Er Street, Sanya Bus Station can be reached by No.2, 4, 7 or No.10 bus.
Express bus bound for Haikou departs every 20 minutes, including quality bus or standard bus. Coaches bound for Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi depart 20 times a day from 7:00am to 23:00pm.
Travel from Haikou to Sanya:
Railroad: Hainan Eastern Ring Railways cuts the travel time to about 2 hours. The train sets off average every half hour from 7:00am to 22:00pm.
Express bus: From Haikou south station to Sanya, it runs every 20 minutes before 20:00pm and every 30 minutes from 20:00 to 23:00.
