Dear James,
My wife Judy and my daughter Helen had a marvelous time in China. Judy had been to China before (with me eight years ago) but had not visited Beijing and Guilin until this trip. They enjoyed both Beijing and Guilin (which they thought was absolutely wonderful) and of course Xian and Shanghai as well.
The air and automobile transportation, drivers, guides, hotels and meals were all very excellent. Judy and Helen especially appreciated the wisdom of the guides to modify the schedule to meet local conditions and the flexibility of China Travel Depot to upgrade their hotel in lieu of my friends’ taking over as guides the last full day in Shanghai. So overall the travel package was very professional and fairly priced.
I have only one small additional comment. On May 1, our home in Tennessee flooded causing a significant amount of damage. As a result I called my wife almost every day from May 1 – May 8 (the end of their tour) in order to apprise her of the situation at home. Although China Travel Depot provided me with correct phone numbers for all the hotels at which Judy and Helen stayed, I was able to get through by telephone directly to the hotel less than 1/3 of the times I tried to call them. Sometimes the call would be disconnected when answered in China and at other times it seemed the phone would ring for a long time but not be answered. Fortunately I had rented an international phone for them to carry which I thought I would use only in an emergency, but, since the hotels either didn’t answer or the calls would not go through, I used the international phone once or more per day. In the case of that phone I got through almost immediately 100% of the time.
But, again, overall Judy and Helen, and, as a result, I as well, were very pleased with the services provided by China Travel, and I would certainly contact you again if we are able to visit China again in the foreseeable future.
Sincerely,
Jim
