The world natural heritages in Sichuan panda habitat are Wolong, Four Girls Mountain and Jiajin Mountains. It covers an area of 9245 square kilometers, including four cities Chengdu, Aba, Ya’an and Ganzi. More than 30% of the world's wild pandas live here. It is not only the largest and the most complete giant panda habitat in the world, but also one of the most abundant regions for its various plant species except the tropical rainforest areas. It has been selected for one of 25 biodiversity hot spots by The International Union for Conservation of Nature, and one of the world 200 biomes by Global Environmental Group.
In 2004, the Chinese government officially declared Sichuan Panda Habitat as World Natural Heritage to the United Nations. In 2005, Sichuan Panda Habitat was officially listed as China's only application for Natural Heritage during the 30TH World Heritage Committee, and finally on become the world's natural heritage on July 12, 2006.
