Chen's Ancestral Shrine is originally called Chen’s Academy. The building has been used as a folk museum called the Guangdong Folk Art Museum now. It covers 13,200 square meters and has 19 buildings with nine halls and six courtyards. On the main axis there are the Main Entrance, assembly Hall and the Rear Hall. These three main buildings are separated by courtyards; they are also the core building of Chen's Ancestral Shrine.
Chen's Ancestral Shrine is famous for its artwork and decoration. There are four different themes to the pictures called "Qilin and the Phoenix," "Dragons and Orbs", "The Three Goats", and "Goldfish in a Pond". Everything in the roof are vivid and colorful. Chen's Ancestral Shrine is a part of Xiguan Buildings.
