Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall
Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is really a magnificent building in the shape of octangle, covering an area of 3,700 square meters. The monument is so remarkable and stately that it seems to go clean through the sky.
The construction started in 1929 and finished in October of 1931. Every pillar in the building features the mark “¥”(stands for the city Guangzhou). The hall uses this mark due to a beautiful legend. Inside the memorial hall, there are tall and straight ancient but precious trees (white jade orchid trees and ceiba). The trees look like loyal and brave soldiers guarding the hall.
The roof of the main Memorial Hall is made of sapphire blue glazed tiles. On the eaves and arches are carved with exquisite paintings and patterns. The hall is also characteristic with white and yellow brick walls, dado of blue stones, red columns, windows made of terrazzo, the granite base of Buddhist-style building. There is a white jade stele on the stage, which was carved with the statue of Dr Sun and his wills.
