Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, has a fairly advanced transportation network and is generally thought of as one of the most important railway and air traffic centers in west China. Situated in the central part of Gansu, Lanzhou is accessible by extensive rail and road links that radiate in all directions.
 
Air
Lanzhou is one of the biggest air transport hubs in the northwest part of China. There are about 40 air routes to other cities of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hong Kong. And the air flights will be adjusted according to the demand in different seasons to meet the requirements of the visitors.The Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport is 74km north, or about an hour, from the downtown area. Airport shuttle buses leave from Donggang West Road every hour.
 
Train
Lanzhou Railway Station is located in the southern part of the city. There are nearly 60 trains departing from Lanzhou every day, connecting Lanzhou to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Jinan, Changsha, Chengdu, Xi’an and Urumqi as well as neighboring cities within Gansu Province.
 
 
Bus
Lanzhou is the hub of the road transportation system in Gansu Province with Lanzhou East Bus Station and Lanzhou West Bus Station being the two largest ones. Located at Pingliang Road, Lanzhou East Bus Station has buses to Dunhuang, Jiuquan, Baiyin and Tianshui. West Bus Station has buses to cities along Hexi Corridor.
 
The public transport system in Lanzhou is well developed, with bus routes covering almost every corner of the city. You can take a bus to most places of the city, especially to the scenic spots. There are buses and mini-buses at cheap prices.
