Jingdezhen travel tips
Although Jingdezhen is no doubt a best place for porcelain purchasing, it is better to be cautious while shopping. There is something you have to remember in case of being cheated or buying fake products.
Warning 1
Many non-Jingdezhen porcelains are sold in the city, especially around the train station and scenic spots. Some vendors even fake the signature of “Jingdezhen” or “Made in Jingdezhen” carved at the bottom of the porcelain.
Warning 2
The certificate of the porcelain could also be fake. There are many big porcelain markets with tons of porcelain certificates. The content of each certificate could be easily exaggerated by the signature of so-called “masters”, therefore costing much more than the real price of the product.
There are several tips that may help you distinguish fake products from real ones.
1. Look carefully and test it own your own.
Some porcelain are made to look as if it is hand-made but shows none of the usual indictors of being old. But once examined carefully you’ll see that the glaze which gleams as if brand new which it surely is and the tone of the blue are also not similar to true ancient pieces. Also, porcelain of good quality sound crystal clear once knocked.
2. Examine the certificate carefully and avoid the trap we have mentioned above.
Use the telephone confirmation number on the certificate to examine the product.
