Yangshuo Transportation
Yangshuo is a county of Guilin in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is located in the west bank of Lijiang River filled with beautiful natural scenery which looks like colourful park. It is also the essence of the well-known Guilin Scenery. Although it is a small town without any modern convenient transportation, it is still attracting the arrival of many domestic and foreign travelers by its unique charm.
By air & train
Yangshuo is just a small county, so if you choose to take a plane there it is a must to take off at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport first and then go to the city centre. Which can be done via transfer with a coach bus to Yangshuo, also you can take a taxi from the airport directly to Yangshuo which would take more than 1 hour to get there. In addition, there is no train station in Yangshuo. Therefore if you want to take a train there, you also need to get off the train at Guilin Railway Station first. There are coach buses waiting about 50 meters away on the left side of the railway station which takes about 70 minutes to get to Yangshuo. Buses depart every 15 minutes and the latest bus will depart at 22:00. A special characteristic of this bus is that it can stop anytime you want, really convenient, isn’t it?
By bike
Bicycles are the best means of transport in Yangshuo because it is a very small county. And these bicycles include light bikes, mountain bikes, tricycles, and tandem bikes. Here are some useful tips:
1. Because there are many mountains and paths in Yangshuo, it will be better to hire a local tour guide when you choose to hire a bike.
2. The West Street and Xianqian Street are walking streets therefore any cars, buses, bikes etc. are not allowed to enter.
By battery car
Battery car (known locally as "stroll car") is a special local transport in Yangshuo County. This kind of transport is converted from a minibus and can take about 10 people at a time. Another interesting characteristic of it is that you can always wave at it to let the driver stop. There are also many battery cars going back and forth between Lijiang terminal and the parking lot.
By ship
There are Lijiang River cruise ships from Guilin to Yangshuo every day and the operating time is generally from 9:00 to 10:00. You can take this ship at Mopanshan Wharf or Zhujiang Wharf; travel time will be roughly 4 hours or so to reach Yangshuo. Departure time is between 9:00-10:00, and you’ll definitely enjoy the beautiful scenery along Lijiang River during the five hours’ shipping tour.
