New Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site Museum will open in May 2014

The New Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site Museum is now under interior renovation. And it will officially open to the public on May 18 2014, the World Museum Day.
Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site was one of the first Chinese cultural heritage listed by UNESCO as “World Heritage”. Ruins Place 1 and Place 2 are the first places where the fossil was discovered. And the fossil of Peking Man Brain Case was discovered in the ape cave of Place 1. The new Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site Museum is located in the middle of these 2 places.
This new museum was founded from July 2011. The core area of ruins is expanded to 0.4 square kilometers and draw of 4.4 square kilometers of protected areas and 8.88 square kilometers construction control area. And the place of new museum will be 8 times as the old one to 7890 square meters.
